Professional Experience

Ms. Jarrott concentrates most of her practice in the area of oil and gas law, in particular defending oil and gas companies in cases known as “legacy” lawsuits, which often involve the interpretation of Louisiana Act 312 of 2006.  Other areas of her practice include interpretation of: (1) Joint Operating Agreements, (2) rights involving areas of mutual interest, (3) rights relating to acquisition of seismic information, and (4) rights of parties pursuant to purchase and sale agreement(s) relating to divestiture of oil and gas properties.   Ms. Jarrott has also handled banking litigation on behalf of Bank of America, N.A. arising under the Truth in Lending Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other federal and state unfair trade practices and consumer protection laws.

Representative Matters

  • Representation of independent oil and gas companies in “legacy” lawsuits, alleging environmental contamination and invoking Louisiana’s Act 312 of 2006.
  • Representation of oil and gas companies in enforcing and defending liens and claims arising under the Louisiana Oil Well Lien Act (La. R.S. 9:4861, et seq.)
  • Representation of oil and gas companies involving matters of the Louisiana State Mineral and Energy Board, Department of Natural Resources (LDNR), Office of Conservation, Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) and related state agencies.
  • Representation of independent oil and gas companies that acquire oil and gas leases (for deepwater drilling) located in the Gulf of Mexico.
  • Representation of working interest owners in determining rights under joint operating agreements.
  • Representation of independent oil and gas companies regarding rights to 3D seismic information pursuant to joint operating agreements and/or licensing agreements.
  • Representation of financial institution in disputes regarding missing endorsement(s) on check(s).
  • Representation of parties in severance tax and franchise and excise tax adjudications and disputes.
  • Representation of financial institution in cases involving the Truth in Lending Act.
  • Representation of oil and gas companies regarding insurance coverage disputes.
  • Representation of financial institution in dispute involving distribution of succession assets of deceased account holder.
  • Representation of parties in securities arbitration before the Financial Industry Regulation Authority (FINRA).
  • Representation of parties in claims involving commercial transactions.
